UBC Vancouver Summer Program – Student’s Experience

Charlotte S. W. Tsang

Biomedical Sciences Major, Year 2, 2024

One of the most significant takeaways from the Vancouver Summer Program was the personal growth I experienced during my time at UBC. The program challenged me to practice independence in a foreign country, go on a solo trip, and confront the difficulties of the language barrier. I learned to navigate unfamiliar situations with confidence, adapt to changing environments, and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. These lessons in resilience, adaptability, and cultural competence are invaluable skills that I will carry with me beyond the program.

In conclusion, the Vancouver Summer Program at UBC was a transformative experience that enriched my academic knowledge, broadened my cultural horizons, and fostered personal growth. I am grateful for the friendships I made, the lessons I learned, and the memories I created during my time in this program. As I return home, I carry with me a newfound appreciation for global perspectives, a deeper understanding of cross-cultural communication, and a renewed sense of confidence in my abilities to navigate the complexities of our interconnected world.
