Congratulations to Prof. Katie Chan, who has recently been awarded a 2024–2025 Teaching Development Grant (TDG) from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). Her project, supported by this grant, will engage students in using AI chatbots to aid in their pre-lecture study of fundamental statistical concepts. AI technology will also be utilised to develop a pool of practice questions, allowing students to reinforce their learning through interactive and personalised exercises.
The Teaching Development Grant (TDG), allocated by the University Grants Committee (UGC), supports the development of learning and teaching initiatives across tertiary institutions. UGC aims for TDG projects to produce measurable learning and teaching benefits and to enhance the quality of education through institution-level innovations. TDG-funded projects, such as Prof. Chan’s, are intended to integrate problem-based learning and incorporate research-based elements, preparing students to creatively tackle real-world challenges.
