Congratulations to Miss Megan Xiaoting LI, PhD student of Dr. King LAI, for winning the Student Innovation Grand Award for their project "Flexible and Wearable Yarn-Based Strain Sensor" in Hong Kong ICT Award 2020. The Grand Award was presented by Mr. Alfred Sit, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the Innovation and Technology Bureau. Earlier, Miss LI has been awarded Student Innovation (Post-Graduate) Gold Award for the same project.

The core-sheath structure yarn strain sensor is highly stretchable, sensitive, and waterproof for wearable applications. It can be integrated easily into textiles such as medical textiles and textile gloves, for monitoring various human motions and controlling robotics.
