Student Activities

The Hong Kong Techathon+ 2024, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and ten co-organizing universities, has successfully concluded with overwhelming support and applause. This year's event was a historic milestone in terms of scale and participation, with the unprecedented inclusion of the International Group, attracting around 1,500 local and non-local participants from various countries. The competition aimed to unearth young talents in Hong Kong who are passionate about startups and promote more innovation and technology (I&T) opportunities. Teams from local and overseas tertiary institutions were competing in four major technology themes, including Trusted AI & Data Science, Sustainability & ESG, Digital Economy, and Smart Cities.

This year, BEngBME students Mr CHENG Chit-Yuen, Mr LO Wai Ping, Mr SIU Wai Hin and their teammates formed the team, Pivot BME, and won the Gold Award of the Trusted AI & Data Science track. SpiralX, a startup founded by PhD students Mr ZHOU Shangjie and Mr ZHANG Linghan, secured the Silver Award in the local open group.
