Award Classifications
Bachelor's degrees students will be eligible for graduation if they:
complete the graduation requirements for the degree,
achieve a CGPA of 2.00 or above (for students admitted from Semester A 2020/21 onwards)
achieve a CGPA of 1.70 or above (for students admitted prior to Semester A 2020/21)
The University grants bachelor's degree awards (EXCEPT for those admitted in the academic years specified below*) with the following classifications based on the CGPAs according to the general guidelines below:

First Class Honours | 3.50 or above |
Upper Second Class Honours | 3.00 - 3.49 |
Lower Second Class Honours | 2.50 - 2.99 |
Third Class Honours | 2.00 - 2.49 |
Pass^ | 1.70 - 1.99 |
^Applicable to students admitted in 2019/20 and before.
*For Bachelor's degree students on Programmes of a Normal Study Duration of 4 Years or More (Admitted from 2020/21 to 2023/24), Advanced Standing I Students (Admitted from 2021/22 to 2023/24) and Advanced Standing II Students (Admitted from 2022/23 to 2023/24), degrees with distinction are awarded based on the CGPA ranking for students in the respective departments/schools graduating in the same semester/term as follows:

A “corresponding honours” based on the student’s CGPA would be displayed on their academic transcripts according to the existing guidelines on Honour Classifications as stipulated under Section 17.3.2 of the Academic Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees.
If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the page contents and the Academic Regulations (AR), rules and guidelines, the AR, rules and guidelines shall prevail.
