Course Aims

All students are required to complete an individual project under the supervision of academic staff in the School. The aims of the final year project are to give students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their creativity and ability to carry out industrially-related or research-type project work, and in the process to allow them to illustrate their expertise in their chosen subject area related to energy and/or energy-related environment. In undertaking the final year project, the student will be able to demonstrate the initiative and intellectual achievement, understanding of the chosen subject matter, and the application of mathematics, science, engineering, economics and policy knowledge in practical situations to arrive at innovative solution. The students will also develop problem-solving skills, demonstrate independence, build self-confidence and ability to make good oral presentations and report writing.


Assessment (Indicative only, please check the detailed course information)

Continuous Assessment: 100%
To pass a course, a student must do ALL of the following:
1) obtain at least 30% of the total marks allocated towards continuous assessment (combination of assignments, pop quizzes, term paper, lab reports and/ or quiz, if applicable);
2) obtain at least 30% of the total marks allocated towards final examination (if applicable); and
3) meet the criteria listed in the section on Assessment Rubrics.
