Course Aims | ||||||||||
This course provides an overview of English-language literature. Each lecture introduces students to important stages in the development of English literature, considering the development of the language, historical context, and key literary trends. It begins by examining English literature's roots in Anglo-Saxon poetry and concludes with a consideration of the current global role of the English-language literature. At each stage, students will acquire knowledge of the central approaches and methodologies to the study of English literature and develop skills to apply them to selected literary texts. | ||||||||||
