Information for Incoming HKBU Students

  • The Talent and Education Development Office will forward HKBU students’ applications to the respective department at CityUHK for approval. After approval, the office will inform students of the application results.
  • If admitted to a course, these students will be formally registered as “UGC-Visiting Students” at CityUHK. They will not be registered in any specific programme of study or attached to any specific academic department. Their study at CityUHK will not lead to a degree or other awards from CityUHK.
  • Students enrolling in a CIGE course are required to participate fully in the course, including the completion of coursework and examinations, if applicable.
  • These students should observe the rules and regulations prescribed by CityUHK.
  • These students are not entitled to any financial awards or assistance offered by CityUHK.
  • These students can access the library and borrow books using the JULAC card. All regulations governing JULAC card holders will apply to these students; they are only entitled to use those library facilities available to JULAC card holders.
  • Apart from the library, they are not entitled to use any other University’s facilities and services, including computing, sports, medical and dental services. However, they can still make special requests to access the University’s computing facilities and services via the Talent and Education Development Office if required by the course(s) they are taking.
  • Should the students wish to withdraw from a CIGE course, they should submit their requests by the course add/drop deadline specified by their home university. Late applications will not be entertained.
  • Upon completion of a CIGE course, the Talent and Education Development Office will inform these students and HKBU of the course result accordingly.
  • These students can apply for a transcript summarising the results of all the courses taken at CityUHK.

  1. Interested HKBU students are required to fill in the following e-application form and submit it to the General Education Office (GEO) of HKBU for endorsement. Applicants will be notified through email if their applications are duly received.
  2. Applications without HKBU’s endorsement would not be processed. Students will be informed of the application results by HKBU.
  3. Application for courses NOT on the CIGE lists will NOT be accepted for processing.
  4. Students should observe the rules and regulations provided by CityUHK course registration.

  1. Students will be officially registered for the course and are required to participate fully in the course by CityUHK.
  2. Successful applicants are advised to apply for a JULAC card from their home institution for access to CityUHK’s Library.
  3. Requests for withdrawal from a course should be submitted before 4:00 pm, 25 January 2025 directly to CityUHK with the completed Course Drop Form. Late applications will normally not be entertained. No replacement of courses is allowed after withdrawal of the original course.

  1. There are normally 13 teaching weeks in a semester and 7 teaching weeks in a summer term. The teaching weeks and examination periods of academic year 2024/25 are as follows:

  2. Students will be informed of the examination timetable and related details normally one month before the start of examination period by email.

  3. Study under this Scheme will not lead to a degree or other awards from CityUHK. Upon completion of courses in each semester, a transcript will be sent to the students via their home institution.
