Roy He holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology (Best thesis), a Master's degree from Columbia University, and a B.Sc. (Honours) from Chongqing University. He conducted research as a visiting researcher at Ecole Normale Superieure Paris-Saclay in 2020. Although accepted as a post-doctoral candidate at Duke University in 2021, he was unable to attend due to COVID-related travel restrictions. Instead, he served as a post-doctoral researcher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, he joined City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor.
His research interests encompass variational and statistical image processing (segmentation, decomposition, reconstruction, color enhancement, etc.), data-driven modeling (PDE identification), mathematical computer graphics (image vectorization), numerical PDE and optimization, and deep learning theory and applications in computer vision.
