- Wieder identified six main categories of routinized deviance, they are:
1. Distancing: Residents were continuously distancing themselves from staff members, using body movements and positioning and speaking Spanish: this create physical and social segregation
2. Disinterest and disrespect: Residents made it obvious that they were not interested in the program, unconcerned with what staff had say, "couldn't care less", program was "not for them"
