This semester, like quite a lot of fellow students, I have chosen an exchange with National University of Singapore (NUS). Here people have different concepts of student residences and halls, as they think halls should engage students in more meaningful activities and student residences focus more on cultural diversity.
Together with around 1000 exchange students, I have been arranged to live in Prince George¡¯s Park Residences (PGPR), which is definitely a different experience from CityU¡¯s residence life. Located in Prince George¡¯s Park Road, this new residential complex offers around 3,000 single rooms to international and non-local students, comprising 36 blocks, a lecture theatre, seminar rooms, a multi-purpose hall, a gymnasium, basketball and tennis courts, a jogging track, an exercise station, a mini-supermarket, four food outlets and other service outlets.
A little different from the residence in CityU, PGPR only provides accommodation for students, with few activities. But never be disappointed. Here you may experience diverse cultures and learn how to make friends with international students. The most popular place at night in PGPR is probably a wine bar, on the left side of PGPR square. It¡¯s always busy at night, so why not seize this opportunity to know more friends from western countries?
I may be proud to say that at least I have not lost my way in PGPR these days. PGPR is like a small town where people don¡¯t need to go outside but they can get whatever they want inside.
Internal shuttle buses have become part of residents¡¯ daily life, as we can see
that NUS has such a large campus. But remember: always be punctual. The buses
won¡¯t wait for you!
