School of Law Admission Scholarship
For the LLB Programme
Regulations
The School of Law has decided to establish a scholarship from the Non-UGC Reserves for the new intakes of UGC-funded LLB Programme with effect from 2008/2009. The following regulations shall apply as of 2015/2016:
1. The Scholarships shall be known as “School of Law Admission Scholarship for the LLB Programme”.
2. There shall be a maximum of 10 awards in academic year 2015/2016 for both JUPAS and non-JUPAS students. It is a one-off cash award and the maximum value of each award shall be up to HK$ 50,000.
3. The details and the selection criteria of the awards are specified below:
For JUPAS HKDSE students
The candidates who are studying Form 6 should be nominated by the principals of local secondary schools and their application will be screened by the Selection Committee. A number of shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a selection interview. Each principal could only nominate ONE student from the school for the scholarship. In addition, candidates should put the LLB programme in Band A choices through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS).The maximum value of each award shall be up to HK$50,000.
To identify the best students to the programme, it is proposed to establish the selection criteria, for example, achieving satisfactory grades in the HKDSE, the actual performance of the students in the previous two years and nomination of the school principals. It is proposed to adopt the best result among the 2015/2016 admitted students as a minimum benchmark for admission.
For non-JUPAS students (IB applicants/GCEAL applicants/HKALE applicants /degree holders)
The candidates who apply and are admitted into the LLB programme must make the application for the Admission Scholarship together with the recommendation from the school principle (for IB, GCEAL and HKALE applicants) or academic department head (for degree holder). A selection interview will take place. The maximum value of each award shall be up to HK$50,000.
Those JUPAS/ Non-JUPAS candidates with the qualifications tabulated below may be granted with the scholarship amount up to HK$50,000 subject to the recommendation of the Selection Committee:

4. The Selection Committee may consider and decide the amount of the scholarship of the JUPAS/ Non-JUPAS candidates subject to their overall academic performance, extra-curricular achievements and interview performance.
5. Associate degree and higher diploma holders are not eligible for this scholarship.
6. Nominations by the School of Law shall reach the Student Development Services by January of the year 2016 for payment arrangement.
Remark:
With an objective to nurture our students and to promote caring culture, the Community Relations Committee of the University Council has recommended that each award recipient is expected to make an annual donation of at least HK$200 to City University of Hong Kong for student support via CityU Alumni Giving Club when they are in employment after graduation. This term has been incorporated into all scholarship/prize/award/bursary schemes, whether they are donated by external donors or contributed by University funding, with effect from February 2008.
