Dr. B.L. Luk has extensive industrial experience in various disciplines including
- Mechatronics,
- Measurement and control,
- SCADA and
- Robotics.
He has applied his knowledge and experience to provide solutions for many difficult industrial problems which cannot be solved easily by off-the-shelf solutions. Some of the examples are:

- NERO Tele-operated vehicle systems for inspecting Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Station, Nuclear Electric plc, UK

- Tribot climbing robot for remote inspections of large war ships, B&W Nuclear Technology Ltd, USA
Dr. Luk was also the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator for a number applied research projects and some of the examples include:
- Co-Investigator of Teleman 44 (Tele-operated Robot for remote inspection in hazardous environments), European Union's Framework IV programme (project value: 500K pounds sterling - 7.3M HKD)
- Principal Investigator of WIRED (Walking Intelligent Robots using Embedded Control Demonstrator), European Union's Framework IV programme (project value: 300K pounds sterling - 4.35M HKD)
- Principal Investigator of the project entitled "An Intelligent Control System for Walking-Climbing Robots", EPSRC, UK (project value: 150K pounds sterling - 2.1M HKD)
