The Super eBook Consortium was officially launched on 14 December 2005. We were honored to have Prof David Tong, our Deputy President, Dr Jerry Yu, our Chief Information Officer and Mr Jay Jordan, President and CEO of OCLC to be our officiating guests.
The Super eBook Consortium was instigated by CityU Library, Feng Chia University Library and National Chung Hsing University Library with the aim of enhancing the English-language ebook collection among 48 university libraries in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Partnering up with one of the world's largest eBook provider, the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), the Super eBook Collection develops into the largest and the most comprehensive of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. In terms of number of libraries and number of titles, the "Super eBook Consortium" is one of the largest eBook consortia in the world.
The Consortium Collection includes over 50,000 volumes of professional and academic ebooks in various disciplines ranging from arts and humanities, business and management, social sciences, science and engineering to law and medicine. Students will be able to browse ebooks via the Internet anytime and anywhere. They will be able to access the world's most updated e-publications and benefit from the latest literature. The Collection will certainly provide further support for e-learning activities at CityU.
