Michelle has always been fascinated about languages. For the love and pleasure of working with languages, she studied translation in the Chinese University of Hong Kong as her first degree, and in later years she obtained her master’s degree in applied linguistics at the same university.
Michelle has been an English language practitioner for more than 12 years. Prior to joining the Language Centre of City University in September 2020, she taught a wide range of English language courses including EAP, ESP, workplace communications, and examination skills training at the Education University of Hong Kong. She believes that effective teaching and learning begins with arousing students’ curiosity and sustains when they taste the joy of learning. In practice, she brings diverse activities into her lessons and keeps them interactive and student-centred.
Her professional interests are contrastive linguistics, motivation and learning through games. Outside of classroom, she enjoys dancing, reading, movies, photography and travelling. She went on a round-the-world trip in her backpack for nine months in 2018-19, during which she made many new friends from all over the world and experienced different cultures first hand.
