This course aims to provide students with fundamental communication knowledge and skills that can be applied to any type of organisation, including businesses, government departments and non-profit organisations. The course focuses on both theory and frameworks of practice, and topics include (1) basic individual communication skills; (2) communicating in the internal corporate environment and with external partners and public bodies; (3) contemporary digital modes of communication; and (4) cross-cultural communication. It is suitable for undergraduates from all disciplines.
The course employs a largely experiential learning pedagogy, and students engage in dynamic class discussions, simulation exercises, and case studies and work in a team setting with students from different academic disciplines.
