The first part of this course will unfold the current technologies and innovations that make these consumer electronic devices tick. The historical development from the past, together with the current experience, can provide insight into the future of CE for industry and its social needs. Many case examples like audio-visual, life-style products, entertainment, and mass-media revolutions will be introduced.
The second part will focus on case studies and their effects. The positive side of these CE to our daily life together with their negative side like consumer product waste issues. Students will be invited to take an active role as consumer, a developer and also as critics on evaluating various CE products.
The teaching will consist of lectures, mini-projects, presentations and quiz.
