This course aims to provide students with an understanding of contemporary climate issues, to broaden their knowledge of the myths and facts of global warming, and to raise their awareness of extreme weather in a changing world. The course covers such issues as weather and climate and their effects on our lives, the history of climate change, rising sea levels and our future, ENSO events and climate disasters, tropical cyclone warnings, and responses to climate change.
The objective of this course is to enable students to contribute to the debate on global environmental change and societal adaption strategies, to help them to become better informed citizens and decision-makers.
