Course Aims | ||||||||||||
The aim of this course is to build on the knowledge of linguistic theory acquired in earlier courses, and to explore the theoretical foundations of one or more dominant schools of thought in the study of language, with reference to the systematic correspondences between forms and meanings as manifested in investigations of the core areas of morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Issues in solving problems in traditional modern linguistic theories will be addressed. | ||||||||||||
