Course Aims

The course builds upon that knowledge to consider the building holistically with an emphasis on heritage buildings. It aims to provide the students: (1) an introduction to the control of adaptation and re-use of heritage buildings; an understanding of the principal factors which influence the design of accommodating, cultural and technological constraints, fire protection and other knowledge relating to heritage buildings; and (2) an appraisal of the built environment; performance evaluation of buildings; and critically evaluating the interaction of building and the environment.
