Course Aims

The course is designed to enhance practice in medical laboratories by illustrating the ideas of good laboratory practice. The course will provide students an overview of legal and ethical issues that they might encounter in medical laboratories. Students will need to reflect on the issues relating to ethical principles and social concerns (e.g. access to patients’ medical records, handle confidential information, animal testing and genetic manipulation testing). Ethical behaviours and manners, moral values essential in workplace will also be addressed.

Continuous Assessment: 50%
Examination: 50%
Examination Duration: 2 hours
Minimum Passing Requirement: A minimum of 40% in continuous assessment as well as in examination.
