Course Aims | ||||||||
This course aims to give students an account of central theoretical concepts relating to the study of world Englishes, with particular reference to the learning and teaching of English. The topics covered will equip students with the basic, critical concepts needed to examine the effects of the internationalisation of English from a global perspective. Students will also discuss the politics of English in relation to language and globalisation, describe the role of literary creativity in relation to world Englishes, and apply relevant methodology to investigate issues relating to world Englishes in the Hong Kong context. | ||||||||
