Course Aims

This course aims to

Introduce concepts of civil and commercial law in Hong Kong and the PRC;
Give students a practical understanding of the application and interpretation of civil and commercial law;
Enable students to analyse and compare the basic concepts of common law and civil law with respect to commercial transactions;
Enable students to deal with legal materials they will likely encounter during their professional practice as legal translators;
Enable students to prepare context-oriented translations of legal texts.
