Course Aims | ||||||||||
This course covers two areas of study of sounds in languages, phonetics and phonology and their relationship. Phonetics which is concerned with the phonetic properties of speech sounds provides the basis for phonological analysis of the structure and patterns of sounds in languages. Also covered in the course are methods of phonological analysis of phonetic data from a variety of languages and selected current theories in phonology. | ||||||||||
