即便在科技發達的現代社會，我們也無法完全解開基因的秘密，我們生命為何延續，為何異變，為何如此不穩定。宏觀上看，人類的獨立性與進步在大的宇宙歷史中只是微不足道的一粒沙土，微觀上講，人類可能只是基因實現自我延續自我進化的容器罷了。

於是，我在影片中圍繞著基因的不穩定狀態，把它擴大異化，人的身體隨時會因為基因的異變而變化成各種生物。從而來看看，在這種具有科幻色彩的設定下，人類社會將會發生什麼。同樣在真實生活中，我們也在面臨各式各樣的基因危機，如何看待基因的異化與雜交，是進化還是退化，生命的本質到底是什麼，這是我在影片中試圖去探討的問題。

影片中，人物以外的所有場景與物體都是來自於網路圖片，我將他們打碎重組拼貼在一起，製作成動畫，對複製品進複製，同樣也是一種雜交，是用圖片製造一個仿像的世界。既然如今很多人類都沉溺於以圖像的形式存在於網路之中，那我就乾脆讓我影片中的人物生活在這些網路圖像構成的平面國裡。在我看來，當下的文化方式本就是一種現成的、重組的、採樣的、雜交的方式。所以，在圖像氾濫的今天，我希望自己的作品是在盡可能地使用圖像而不是生產圖像。

Even in such a technologically advanced modern society, we are unable to understand thoroughly the secrets of genes - why our lives continue, how they vary and change, why they are so unstable / unpredictable, etc. From a macro perspective, human independence and progress are as negligible as dust within the grander cosmos. From a micro perspective, human beings perhaps are just containers for genes’ continuation and evolution.

As such, my video revolves around the instability / unpredictability of genes while magnifying / exaggerating their variations in order to explain how human bodies can be transformed into different living things anytime, according to changes in their genes. Under this sort of sci-fi setting, the work explores the changes that might happen in human society. In reality, we are also facing all kinds of genetic crises. So, how do we see genetic variation and hybridization? Is it a step forward or back? What is actually the essence of life? These are some of the issues which I wished to explore via this video.

Apart from the characters in the video, all of the sets and objects are images captured from the Internet. I deconstruct them and then put them back as a collage to produce an animation. Copying copies is also a form of hybridization – I use images to create an imitation. Many people nowadays are obsessed with images and sate themselves online. I simply let the characters in my video live in a 2-D environment created by these Internet images. For me, contemporary culture is ready-made, reconstructed, sampled and hybrid. In such an image-overloaded era, I hope that my work utilizes images but does not produce images.
