黃智銓
WONG Chi Cheun, Kenny


1987年出生於香港。他關注跨界模擬信號與數位表現法,以日常經驗及感知刺激之間的微妙關係作為創作元素。 黃智銓熱衷於探索視覺模式丶運動、聲音質感,以及電腦動力學裝置。黃氏以多媒體設計師、機械工程師/設計師和藝術研究員的身份與其他媒體藝術家、聲音藝術家及戲劇演員等積極合作。 現於加拿大蒙特利爾Concordia University修讀碩士,主修雕塑。 2015年於香港城市大學創意媒體學院兼任講師,2011年獲得香港城市大學創意媒體文學士(榮譽)學位。

Wong was born in 1987 in Hong Kong. Wong is currently pursuing his MFA in Sculpture at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Wong received his BA in Creative Media from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong in 2011, where he was also a part-time Lecturer in 2015.

By hybridizing analogue and digital representations, Wong’s works explore the delicate relationship between daily experiences and perceptual stimulations. Wong is interested in exploring visual patterns, motions, and sound textures, as well as in presenting works in the form of computational kinetic sculptures. Wong actively works as a collaborating artist, multimedia designer, mechanical engineer/designer, and art researcher.

《奔忙》是一個自我平衡的搖搖板和一段特製的小號的錄音,不斷嘗試找平衡。藝術家的靈感來自他在上海外灘看見一個出租車司機,在等候客人時拿出小號吹奏。

《奔忙》的雕塑外觀靈感是來自香港中環渡輪碼頭及附近的摩天輪,正正是作品的展出地。機器通過不斷地嘗試平衡,卻往往傾向於另一端而使自己變得忙碌。中間的圓形重量隨機地轉動使機械不斷傾斜,而兩側的四件重物嘗試抵消或輔助傾斜。而機械整體的傾斜度會實時影響小號錄音的音調。

“Busyness” offers a scenario of a self-playing see-saw and a trumpet recording, constantly attempting to find balance in an imbalanced system. The artist was inspired by a scenario of a taxi driver stopping to play his trumpet, while others were busy hurrying to pick up passengers in the Bund, Shanghai.

“Busyness” is sculpturally and kinetically inspired by the Hong Kong Central Ferry Pier and the nearby Ferris Wheel, for which this work was commissioned. The kinetic intervention has composed a seesaw like motion within the system. The machine makes itself busy by constantly attempting to balance itself, resulting in an inclination on the other side. The random movement of the circular weight triggers the inclination, while the four, side-moving weights perform various maneuvers to counter or assist the inclination. The inclination also changes the pitch of a trumpet recording in real time.
